Moisture Meters & Leak Detection

RV inspector using moisture meter to check interior wall moisture inside a luxury motorhome.

What Moisture Meter Testing Does in an RV Inspection

Moisture meters are used during RV inspections to measure moisture content beneath surfaces such as floors, walls, roof panels, and structural components. This testing is non-invasive and provides objective numerical readings without removing materials or causing damage.

Moisture readings help document current conditions in areas where water intrusion is most common. Results are evaluated in context with material type, location, and environmental conditions present at the time of inspection.

Moisture testing does not determine the cause of moisture or predict future performance, but it provides valuable data to support inspection observations and reporting.

Testing Moisture on RV Interior Floor Using Orion 950 and App Sync

Floor Moisture Testing in High-Risk Areas

Flooring is one of the most common areas affected by water intrusion due to plumbing leaks, exterior seal failures, slideouts, and appliance connections. Moisture meter testing allows these areas to be evaluated efficiently during an inspection.

Using real-time app synchronization, readings are logged immediately and associated with specific locations within the RV. This helps ensure accuracy, consistency, and clear documentation within the inspection report.

Roof Moisture Testing & Leak Detection

The RV roof is the first line of defense against water intrusion and is one of the most critical areas evaluated during moisture testing. Multiple readings are taken across roof surfaces, seams, penetrations, and transition points to document moisture conditions.

Roof moisture testing is performed carefully and systematically to help identify areas that may warrant further evaluation. Readings are documented alongside roof material type and inspection observations.

Moisture Meter Reporting & Documentation

Every moisture reading collected during the inspection is documented in a detailed report. Readings may include moisture content (%MC), temperature, relative humidity, depth setting, and material type when applicable.

This data-driven documentation helps clients clearly understand what was observed, where readings were taken, and the conditions present at the time of inspection. Reports are structured for clarity and transparency and are included as part of the inspection deliverables.

Moisture reports reflect conditions at the time of inspection and are not predictive in nature.
